Position Description:
The U.S. Payroll Staff Accountant processes U.S. payroll and prepares financial reports by applying accounting principles within the Accounting Department. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations while maintaining alignment with both U.S. and Canadian payroll regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Payroll Staff Accountant is responsible for handling all U.S. payroll functions and backing up Canadian processes. Key responsibilities include:

Backup and Support:
Provide backup support for the Canadian biweekly and monthly annuitant payrolls.
Special Projects:
Confidentiality:
Maintain confidentiality of UFCW records and financial information.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred), or an Associate’s degree in Accounting with at least three years of progressive related experience. A combination of five or more years of progressive accounting experience, including reconciliation, may be considered in lieu of a degree. Payroll experience is preferred.

Effective and efficient oral and written communication skills.

Working Conditions
The work is performed in a normal office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work atmosphere is fast-paced and deadline-oriented.
Physical Demands
The position involves, but is not limited to, written and oral communications skills, use of computer keyboard, close vision, sitting for long periods, stooping, bending and reaching.
This is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $59,585 – $74,632
