Job Description

Salary: $88,000 - 128,000 per year Requirements:

  • We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • We need 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud computing, or a similar area, including at least 5 years in a cloud architecture capacity.
  • We expect proven hands-on experience designing and deploying solutions on at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • We require experience with cloud migration approaches, including lift-and-shift, re-platforming, and re-architecting.
  • We value a masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • We prefer experience supporting federal government or Department of Defense IT environments.
  • We need strong written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to explain complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • We require deep knowledge of cloud services across compute, storage, networking, databases, security, observability, and DevOps tooling.
  • We expect proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager templates, or similar solutions.
  • We need a solid grasp of cloud networking concepts, including VPCs, VPNs, load balancing, DNS, CDN, and hybrid connectivity.
  • We require experience designing cloud security architectures, including IAM, encryption, secure logging, policy enforcement, and Zero Trust principles.
  • We value familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • We expect working knowledge of CI/CD pipeline design and DevSecOps practices.
  • We require experience with cloud monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Splunk, Datadog, or comparable platforms.
  • We need familiarity with cATO or automated ATO concepts, continuous monitoring, security evidence automation, and compliance data integration.
  • We require experience working within compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, and SOC 2.
  • We value knowledge of business continuity, disaster recovery, and COOP principles as applied to cloud services.
  • We need strong understanding of cloud cost management and FinOps practices.
  • We expect the ability to provide technical leadership and guidance in a collaborative Agile environment.
  • We require the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Preferred certifications include AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect.
  • We value additional cloud certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, CompTIA Cloud+, or CCSP.
Responsibilities:
  • We design and architect end-to-end cloud service and infrastructure solutions that balance performance, scalability, security, resilience, interoperability, and cost efficiency.
  • We establish and uphold cloud architecture standards, design patterns, governance practices, and reference architectures across program environments.
  • We evaluate, select, and implement cloud services, platforms, and technologies that advance mission-critical goals and modernization efforts.
  • We partner with engineering, development, security, and operations teams to integrate cloud solutions with existing systems, workflows, and enterprise services.
  • We create and maintain architecture documentation, including diagrams, technical specifications, service designs, reference architectures, and decision records.
  • We support continuous ATO and automated ATO processes by building cloud patterns, automation, integrations, and evidence-producing controls.
  • We design and support the ingestion, normalization, and use of compliance data from sources such as FedRAMP, StateRAMP, and SOC 2 within security and authorization workflows.
  • We develop or help shape Security Assessment Verification and Validation Plans that define scope, objectives, dependencies, validation methods, and implementation roadmaps.
  • We design cloud architectures that enable approved AI-driven analytics and automation to strengthen threat detection, operational response, and service management.
  • We lead or assist with COOP, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning to sustain mission and business functions during disruptions.
  • We contribute to Red Team/Blue Team exercises by ensuring cloud architectures support testing, monitoring, analysis, remediation, and lessons learned.
  • We support planning and process-improvement efforts for the Enterprise Security Operations Center, including current-state assessment, future-state design, roadmap development, and improvement recommendations.
  • We perform cloud-readiness assessments and guide migration planning for on-premises and legacy systems moving to cloud environments.
  • We monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost, and we implement automation and IaC where appropriate.
  • We ensure cloud environments comply with federal security and regulatory requirements, including FedRAMP, NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, and related frameworks.
  • We provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and cloud practitioners while communicating architecture choices and tradeoffs to stakeholders and business leaders.
  • We operate in an Agile delivery setting while meeting stage gates, delivery milestones, and documentation expectations.
  • We assess emerging cloud technologies and recommend adoption strategies that strengthen cloud capability, security posture, and modernization outcomes.
